From the lecture halls of the Alamo Community College
District to the research laboratories of the University of
Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, San Antonio’s
Health Care and Bioscience community is an emerging academic
and economic force in the Alamo region.
“The University of Texas Health
Science Center at San Antonio is home to one of the nation’s
highest rated dental schools, one of Texas’ top medical
schools and one of America’s leading research teams on
aging. The city’s state-supported academic institution, The
University of Texas at San Antonio, boasts the nation’s
highest graduation rate for Hispanics in the life sciences,
with biology as the school’s most popular major. These two
sister institutions are collaborating on a joint life
sciences institute, with plans to offer 10 new joint
doctoral degree programs in the life sciences over the next
decade.”
